In which year was the electronic throttle body first implemented?

It is the electronic throttle body. To verify, have someone input the key while you check the engine compartment.

Upon turning my ignition switch to the ON position, but not fully to START, I hear a clicking sound. Upon returning the key to the OFF position, I hear clicking sounds after what seems to be a short wait of one or two seconds.

The electronic throttle body emits a few clicks; however, if you are hearing more relays, they may be associated with your parasitic drain. My preferred instrument for detecting a parasite drain is the Power Probe parasitic drain tester, which is quite inexpensive at just $40. It is merely a meter, yet it is less prone to blowing a fuse compared to conventional meters. Its utilization of banana plugs at both ends facilitates effortless connection to the battery while the meter remains inside the vehicle, allowing for observation during fuse disconnection. Additionally, banana plug leads can be inexpensively procured on Amazon, enabling the user to extend the reach as necessary within the car. A notable aspect of intermittent devices is their ability to record minimum and maximum spikes. Thus, if a vehicle exhibits no draw and you leave, returning after 15 minutes to see a spike in the maximum, it indicates an intermittent occurrence.

I do not experience the noise, since my device is of the mechanical sort. However, the other vehicles equipped with electronic systems emit a clicking noise when the ignition key is turned to the "on" position.

I concur with your assessment. It is quite customary.

Perhaps it is the electronic throttle body?

Salutations to everybody! I have a further inquiry unrelated to the parasitic draw issue about my Kia Soul, so I am initiating a new topic for this subject. Upon turning off the vehicle, a clicking sound like a relay emanates from under the hood, situated between the radiator and the front of the engine. The sound is not the typical ticking associated with metal cooling; rather, it consists of mechanical clicks and whirs. Is this a regular occurrence, or may it indicate a potential issue?
